Privacy Policy
This site collects what you type into one of its two forms: the "Be the first to know" update list or the "Get in touch" form. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising trackers, and nothing collected here is sold.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by Casa Elvira Mexican Grill & Cantina, 3316 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362, which is responsible for it and for the information collected through it. Its web team, Vamos Viral Media, builds and hosts the site for the restaurant as a service provider and receives submissions on the restaurant's behalf.
What is collected, and when
"Be the first to know" signup
Only when you submit it, and only these fields:
- your first and last name and your email address;
- your phone number, if you choose to give one;
- that you ticked the email updates box, when you ticked it, and its exact wording;
- if you also ticked the separate text message box: that choice, when you made it, and its exact wording;
- your browser's user agent string and a one-way hash of your IP address.
The hashed address exists to stop the forms being flooded (five submissions an hour per connection). It is a salted SHA-256 hash stored instead of the address itself and is not used to identify or profile anyone.
"Get in touch" form
Only when you submit it: your name, email, phone number if you give one, the subject you pick, your message, and the same user agent string and hashed address. A message is not a signup. It is stored separately, carries no marketing consent, and never adds you to any list.
What it is used for
Signup details are used to send you news about Casa Elvira's opening, menu previews, events and offers: by email, and by text message only if you ticked the separate text box. Contact details are used to answer you. Those are the only purposes.
Text messages
Casa Elvira sends marketing texts only to people who tick the separate text message box. A phone number given without that box is never used for marketing texts. Consent to texts is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help.
Cookies, analytics and third parties
The site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and loads no analytics, advertising or social tracking scripts. Fonts and images are served from this site itself.
Google Maps, only if you ask for it. The map on the home page is a picture drawn from OpenStreetMap data and served from this site. If you press "Show interactive Google map", your browser loads Google Maps, and Google receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own privacy policy. Nothing is sent to Google unless you press that button. The "Get Directions" buttons simply open Google Maps in a new page.
Because the site does not track you across websites and does not sell or share anything about you, every visit is already treated as if a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal were on, so nothing changes when your browser sends one.
Who else sees it
- Vamos Viral Media, the restaurant's web team, as a service provider.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the database. Like any web host it keeps short-lived request and security logs, and it asks browsers to report connection failures (Network Error Logging) to keep the site reachable.
- Resend delivers the notification email that tells the restaurant about a new signup or message, when that notification is switched on.
All of them act only on the restaurant's instructions. No one else receives the list.
How long it is kept
Update list: until you leave it or ask for removal. After you leave, your address is kept only as a record that you asked not to be contacted, so it cannot be added back by mistake. Contact messages: deleted automatically 24 months after they arrive. The anti-flood log: deleted automatically after an hour.
Your choices
Leave the email list any time on the unsubscribe page or from the link in any email. Stop texts by replying STOP. To get a copy of what is held about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email info@casaelviramexicangrill.com and it will be done. Making a request costs nothing and never changes how you are treated.
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves.
